I dusted off my old turntable and dragged out my aging collection of vinyl records yesterday to listen to “Shaved Fish,” the compilation of singles written and sung by one of my heroes, John Lennon.  Knowing  he was killed 32 years ago, on December 8, 1980, as he was returning from a recording session to the Dakota, the building in New York City where he was living at the time, I felt compelled to hear his voice, scratches and all, on my aging LP.
